Search Continues for Missing Canadian Hiker along The Lost Coast Trail

SHELTER COVE, Ca. (KIEM) – Thirty-two year old Rick Raymond Eastep started his hike along the lost coast trail on January 3rd. But days into his hike, Eastep went missing. He last sent a text to his shuttle driver, saying he was injured.

He planned to stay on the trail for about four days, ending his hike around Black Sands Beach.

Shelter Cover Fire partnered with other agencies, Such as Calfire and The Coast Guard to try and locate the missing 32-year old. Shelter cove fire says, they’ve been in close contact with Eastep’s family back in Canada. The fire department says they believed to have located his missing backpack.

But the search continues up and down the coast.

It’s advised that anyone who hikes on the lost coast trail to be aware of their surroundings.

Anyone with information on Eastep’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office.
