EUREKA, Ca., (KIEM)- The Eureka City Council was expected to pull funding from the Eureka-Humboldt Visitors Bureau at their meeting Tuesday night. But now City Council is waiting to make a final decision.

They took the item off the agenda after Tony Smithers died on Saturday. He was the Executive Director of the Visitor’s Center.

The council will postpone deciding on a new marketing strategy for tourism until the February 5th meeting. The city gives $370,000 to the tourism center each year.

For now, the city wants to pay its respects to Smither’s and his family…

The council meeting starts at Tuesday night at the Council Chamber at 531 K street in Eureka.
