Search for Aracta Woman who went missing while hiking comes to tragic end

PATRICK’S POINT, Ca., (KIEM)- The search for a 33-year-old Arcata Woman who went missing while hiking at Patrick’s Point State Park has come to a tragic end.

The woman was hiking away from the trail between Wedding Rock and Mussel rock. It was there where she fell 200 feet into a crevasse.

That’s when emergency personnel responded to the scene just after six Sunday evening.  The search was called off several hours later due to dangerous conditions and darkness.

It resumed Monday morning and the woman’s body was found at around noon.

The name of the woman is not being released at this time. If you go hiking the Sheriff’s Office recommends that you stay on the trail, go with a group, and bring water, food and a flash light.
