ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – It’s never too early to start investing in your future. But it’s also never too early to start thinking about your higher education. Eighth graders from Northern California spent a day in college.

It’s part of I’ve Been Admitted to College or IBAC event at Humboldt State University.

Students from Humboldt County, Del Norte County, and even Mendocino County attended HSU for the day. It was a chance for kids to see what awaits them in college.

Over 300 students had a hand on experience. They were able to see what current students at HSU HAVE been able to create and design.

But also being at HSU helps to promote higher education for future generations.

Elvis Campos is a student ambassador with HSU. Campos says this event can help ease the anxieties about attending college.

IBAC is a partnership with the Humboldt County Office of Education and HSU’S College of Admissions. They hope that the hundreds of students that attended today’s event will spark an interest for higher education.

Today was the sixth and final IBAC event at HSU. throughout the six events, over 1300 students had an early introduction to college life.
