Del Norte residents come together to help children of Emiley Hughes

CRESCENT CITY (KIEM)- Community members in Del Norte county held a car wash today for a Crescent City mom who was found dead at her home on Valentine’s Day.

After a three-hour standoff with law enforcement, Edward Hughes was arrested earlier in the week and charged with the murder of his wife, Emiley Hughes.

to help pay for Emiley’s service and support her children, Emily’s friends and community members came together and had a car wash at the Crescent City Pizza Hut. It was sponsored by the Del Norte Community Health Center’s recovery and support group. Organizers are calling the event a success. They raised over $2,000.

If you couldn’t make it out to the car wash, there is a go fund me page set up to help Emiley’s three children. 10 year-old William, four-year-old Ayla and Ethan who is 16 months old.
