Highway 101 along the Southern Oregon Coast re-open

A landslide that caused a highway along the Southern Oregon Coast to buckle, collapse, and close is now re-opened to drivers.

Highway 101 was closed for two weeks following a slide between Gold Beach and Brookings in late February which left much of the road mangled and destroyed.

Crews said the slide has slowed to about 3 inches per hour allowing the Oregon Department of Transportation to reopen the road.

Commercial traffic, as well as oversized loads, will now be allowed to travel on U.S. Highway 101 in the area.
