Eureka council holds off on making decision for marketing firm

EUREKA, CA (KIEM)- There are two finalists but the Eureka City Council is not ready to award a contract to market the city for tourism.

A marketing firm out of Virginia and locally, Humboldt Made are the finalists for a $370,000 per year contract to market the city.

But after discussion and concerns from the community, no decision was made. Eureka mayor Susan Seaman will now appoint a team of five to interview the two finalists before final approval.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, council members approved an ordinance that would allow Pedicab businesses in Eureka. They would be allowed to give rides to up to 15 people who can consume alcohol if over the age of 21.
