16 year-old arrested for shooting one teenager dead, injuring another

ARCATA, Ca (KIEM)-An arrest has been made after a male teenager was shot dead and another injured in Arcata.

Arcata police say four men from Eureka had arranged to sale marijuana to another man. They met at the intersection of Foster and Alliance Road just before 10 pm Sunday.

The suspect, identified as a 16 year-old Manila resident demanded the marijuana and pulled out a handgun from his waistband and started firing at three of the victims.

Two teenage men were shot and transported to Mad River Hospital. 18 year-old Taevonne Latimer who was shot several times in the torso and died.

The second gunshot victim, 18 year-old Daylyn Prudhomme sustained a gunshot wound to his right upper thigh and exited and grazed his left thigh. He has since been released from the hospital.

The suspect was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
