Riot at Alder Camp

One staff member and 3 inmates are injured following a riot that occurred around 5 Monday night.

At least 40 inmates were involved. They were given commands to stop and when they resisted, pepper spray and physical force were used. The Del Norte County Sheriffs office, C.H.P., and other agencies responded to the scene.

The employee was hit in the head and torso during the riot and treated and released at a hospital. The inmates who initiated the riot were transported to Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City.

There are around 100 inmates, 9 C.D.C.R members, and 14 Cal Fire personnel at the Klamath Camp.
