Man dies in head-on crash

DINSMORE, Ca (KIIEM)-One man is dead after a head-on collision in eastern Humboldt County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, just before 4 Sunday afternoon, a Honda sedan was traveling eastbound on State Route 36 near Dinsmore.  

The car drifted onto the shoulder before traveling across the roadway and colliding with a Dodge truck that was towing a trailer. The 20 year-old driver of the car died at the scene. 44-year old Nate Howe of Eureka was the driver of the truck and uninjured.

The CHP said excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the collision.
