Traffic Enforcement details coming to Sunny Brae and Sunset this week

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) This week the Arcata Police Department will conduct traffic enforcement in areas of Sunnybrae and Sunset in Arcata.

The department wants to expand these traffic enforcement details from downtown and the Northside of Arcata to other areas of the city where residents say traffic violations are a concern.

Arcata’s Chief of Police said the city sees an abundance of traffic daily. And with bicyclist, pedestrians, and drivers sharing the road, the chief said, he urges people to drive safely especially during the summer months.

“We’re going to be selecting communities based on complaints. Based upon the volume of incidents. And bringing additional resources to Arcata neighborhoods to focus on moving violations, seat belt violations, cell phone violations; anything that is creating a hazardous situation on Arcata streets.”
