Humboldt County Board of Supervisors Vote on Six Month Moratorium on Industrial Hemp

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – Another moratorium has been set on industrial hemp. But this time, instead of three months a temporary six month restriction is now in place.

The FDA is working towards developing regulations for hemp. According to the FDA, they expect to implement a final rule by December 2019.

In the meantime, The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors voted to put a six month moratorium on hemp.

One business owner says, she wants to grow the plant for its medicinal purposes. 

On Thursday, there will be a public meeting about hemp here in Eureka at the Agricultural Center.
