Sporting Youth: City of Eureka Cheer Camp

Kids came together for the City of Eureka’s “Get up and Cheer” youth summer camp. Tumbling, cheering and stunts are just some of the things kids ages 7-12 learned at the camp.

“As they are learning, they are also getting excited, said Camp Instructor Sierra Jenkins. You can just see that in their eyes, you can see them light up.”

The three-day camp held at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium is all about bringing kids together who may or may not have cheered before.

Ella Dement is one of the campers and said she’s done stunts before and it’s really fun learning more about what it is and how to do it.

For the final day, campers performed for friends and family to show off all they had learned.  If you missed out on cheer camp this year, the City of Eureka is offering a variety of different camps throughout the summer. You can check them out at Eureka Community Services.
