Arcata Police Celebrates 125 Years tomorrow

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Established July 31 of 1894, Wednesday, the Arcata Police Department will celebrate a milestone and they want the community, who they said, makes it possible to come out and join. 

The Arcata Police Department will report to the city’s plaza for cake and celebration as they acknowledge 125 years as a department.

Arcata’s Chief of Police said, this is something he and the entire department is extremely proud of. The chief said it takes collaboration to succeed.

“It takes a strong city government to put that momentum behind having a professional police department and it takes a community to support the efforts of law enforcement and not only their local community but in their county and state as well,” said Chief Brian Ahearn. “So we have been able to sustain quality policing here because of a lot of factors including the people who sign up and they are the heart and soul.”
