Update: 189 donors were seen in eight hours and 170 units were collected. EPD took the trophy this year, followed by HCSO.

EUREKA (KIEM)– Battle of the Badges Blood Drive kicked off in Eureka on Wednesday for emergency personnel to battle it out all in a friendly competition.

At the blood bank residents and local law enforcement spent the day donating blood.

This year they have already seen an exceptional turnout. In 2018, they had 74 donors. As of this year, they surpassed that number in the first three hours.

Summer time is critical time for blood banks across the country. They see a drop in donors, so events like this help them add to their supply.

It is easier than you think to donate and every bit counts, so if you would like to donate, head over to the blood bank is always accepting.
