Pedestrian killed in early morning crash

FORTUNA, Ca (KIIEM)-A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a Dodge truck on northbound Highway 101 in Fortuna.

It happened at around 1 Tuesday morning. The Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene and located the victim, 55 year-old Margery Wells of Eureka, in the roadway south of the Main Street exit. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge truck, 26 year-old Moshe Pepper of Mad River contacted authorities shortly after the collision

It’s unknown why Wells was in the roadway. The California Highway Partrol said impairment was not a factor in the crash.
