One dead, four others in the hospital after a truck crashes into a tree

Trinity County, Ca., (KIEM) One person is dead and four other people are in the hospital after a truck crashes into a tree.

CHP officials say it happened Friday night in Trinity County on State Route 3.

Police say the driver, 20-year-old Justin Seaman of Eagle Point Oregon, was driving a Ford Pickup truck at an accelerated speed when he approached a curve in the road.

They say because of the truck’s speed, Seaman wasn’t able to negotiate the curve and ran off the road, hitting a tree on the shoulder.

Seaman died from his injuries at the scene.

The other four male passengers in the truck, ranging from ages 19 to 20, were airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Redding with moderate to major injuries.

Officials say three of the injured are from Eureka and the fourth person injured is from Arcata.
