30 local women in law enforcement attend Law Enforcement Training Symposium in Santa Clara

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) The Humboldt County Community Corrections Partnership helped provide funding for local women in law enforcement to attend this year’s Annual Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Training Symposium.

Earlier this month, women from law enforcement agencies from all over Humboldt County traveled to Santa Clara, California to attend the 12th annual conference.

The community corrections partnership along with nearly a dozen local agencies supplied the funding allowing a total of 30 women to attend.

The mission of the conference was to bring law enforcement professionals together in a supportive and empowering environment. Allowing, women in blue, to learn from the knowledge and experience of others.

“It’s just a great empowering conference. We listen to speakers that were the pioneers of women in law enforcement,” said Eileen Verbeck of Arcata Police Department. “These were women who were officers wearing skirts and had to have their guns in a purse. We’ve come a long way. We just had to come together in that environment to see what the future holds for law enforcement.”
