Eureka Police Department Receives $55,000 Grant from Office of Traffic Safety

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The Eureka Police Department receives a $55,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety for a one-year enforcement and education program. The money will fund various activities intended to reduce deaths and injuries on California roads.

Some of these programs include patrols looking for suspected alcohol and drug-impaired drivers, enforcing violations of California’s hands-free cell phone law, targeting primary causes of crashes such as speeding, improper turns, and running traffic signals, and traffic safety education presentations for youth and community members.
