Winter Storm Impacting Holiday Drivers

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt Bay Motorists trying to get an early start on the holiday travel were met with high winds, rain, and snow.

Several weather-related crashes were reported on the North Coast Tuesday. The roadways were slick on the coast with rain and the mountains with snow. High winds have also made it difficult as motorists try to get to their destinations.

Paul Craft of the Humboldt area CHP tells travelers to expect to see debris in the roadway, take things slow, and drive as if something is in the road right around the corner. He also urges motorists to call 911 if they come across anything in the road so they can get it taken care of.
