Redwood Coast Energy Authority Gives Tips on how to Cut your Energy Costs

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – As temperatures drop, renters and homeowners are reaching for the thermostat, but even that small action could cause energy costs to skyrocket.

For National Cut Your Energy Costs Day, Redwood Coast Energy Authority recommends following these smart, energy-saving tips to help bring those costs down.

Always monitor your appliances, check that your settings and temperature are turned down when no one is home.

While hot showers on a cold morning may sound inviting, big energy savings can be found from setting water heater thermostats to 120 degrees or lower.

During the summer most people cover their windows to reduce the amount of heat from the sun getting in, so this winter, do the opposite and let that sunshine in.
