District 2 Board of Supervisor Race Possibly Headed to Runoff in November

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) – Right now, it looks like the race for the Board of Supervisors District 2 seat is headed towards a runoff election in November.

Incumbent Estelle Fennell is leading her four opponents, according to unofficial results released by the Humboldt County Office of Elections. She has only received 49.92% of the vote, which is just below the 50% threshold needed. If Fennell doesn’t secure 50%, then the candidates are forced to go before voters again in a runoff election in November.

There are still ballots left to count, so it’s still too early to say whether or not there will be a runoff contest. Despite the uncertain results, Fennell thanks supporters for their continued backing.

We will continue to update you as the final tally comes in.
