Governor Newsom Announces Increase in Unemployment Benefits

SACRAMENTO, CA. (KIEM) – Beginning on Sunday, April 12th, Californians will see their unemployment benefits increase by $600 per week on top of the amount they are currently receiving.

This increase is a part of the new Pandemic Additional Compensation which was initiated in the Cares Act.

Last week, California saw over 2400% increase in applications for unemployment benefits when compared to the same week last year.
