ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM)-Three years ago today a Humboldt State University student was murdered.

Three years later and there is still no justice for Josiah Lawson who was stabbed to death at an Arcata house party on Spear Avenue.

Arcata’s Police Lt. Todd Dockweiler is the lead investigator in this case.

“The difficulty in identifying witnesses or getting consistent statements,” Dockweiler said. “We have not been able to identify eyewitnesses, but we do believe that those folks are out there.”

The department continues to search for the person or persons responsible for the April 15th, 2017 death of Lawson, who was just 19 years old.

David Josiah Lawson’s family and law enforcement want to keep his memory alive.

“There’s a lot of pieces to this case and in this investigation and often times what we find is that people who don’t think they saw anything, don’t think they have any relevant and in fact they do,” Dockweiler said.

That is why Lawson’s mother, Charmaine, Arcata police and The City of Arcata’s information technology department developed a public service announcement soliciting information surrounding Lawson’s murder.

The slain HSU student’s mother urged anyone with information surrounding her son’s murder to come forward in a new PSA announcement.

“There is DNA evidence from the knife used to kill my son,” Charmaine said. “Now we need eyewitnesses to come forth and help us get justice for Josiah.”

And Charmaine’s mission will continue, until the person responsible for her son’s death is brought to justice.

Anyone with information identifying who killed Lawson is asked to call Arcata police at 707-825-2590, ask for Lt. Todd Dockweiler.

Lawson’s family and law enforcement are encouraging the public to share this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P21dQpcgL0 on social media to get justice of Josiah.
