New Women’s Shelter, Covid-19 Assistance Fund on this Month’s Eureka City Council Agenda

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The Eureka City Council is back to work at their monthly meeting amid Covid-19, but rather than meeting in person they will be meeting virtually.

First up on Tuesday night’s agenda, a shelter crisis declaration. If passed, this would pave the way for the Betty Kwan Chinn Foundation to open and operate a shelter for women and families on 7th Street.

Also up for discussion, the Covid-19 assistance fund grant program. If adopted, it would allocate $50,000 in grants for homeless service providers and $200,000 in grants to support individuals for rent or mortgage assistance.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 pm. It will be live-streamed on the city of Eureka’s website and will also be available on cable channel 10.
