Dr. Frankovich Talks Covid-19 Therapies, Local Chains of Transmission

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Frankovich is giving residents a better snapshot of our local Covid-19 cases.

As far as groups that are more susceptible, locally we are seeing that older individuals and those with underlying health conditions are more at risk, similar to what is being seen across the country.

As far as therapies for Covid patients, Remdesivir and convalescent plasma are available for use at local hospitals. To date, there have been 13 hospitalizations. Some cases have ICU admission or a ventilator, but Public Health is not releasing specifics on exactly how many.

According to Dr. Frankovich, there are currently 3 to 4 chains of transmission in the county, some with more than 10 additional individuals related to the original contact case.
