Deceased body found on U.S. Highway 101

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – A deceased body was located on U.S. Highway 101 Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m., Caltrans workers were conducting highway improvements south of Indianola Cutoff when they discovered the deceased body lying in the tall grassy center divider.

California Highway Patrol and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the subject appeared to be lying in a supine position and had been deceased for a while.

The identity of the body has not been determined.
