Covid-19 emergency $0 bail schedule suspended, 48 hour arraignment requirement reinstated

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The California Covid-19 emergency zero dollar bail schedule has officially ended.

The Judicial Council of California voted to end the emergency schedule earlier this month, and also re-instated the requirement that defendants be arraigned within 48 hours. This went into effect at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on June 20th.

Correctional facility Captain Duana Christain says they will adhere to the state judicial council in accordance with the local Humboldt County Superior Court and will continue to set bail as determined by the courts and adhere to the 48-hour time frame for arraignment.
