FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM) – The Fortuna Fireworks Festival prepares for this year’s new display.

The show will be different than in past years, as the festival surrounding the show was cancelled. Organizers say this year’s show will feature fireworks that fly higher, allowing the show to be seen from further away.

These fireworks will be used to encourage community members to enjoy the show while socially distancing. The location will be kept secret to discourage gatherings, but according to Fortuna Fireworks Festival Co-Chair Tina Taylor, the show will now be visible from homes or vehicles within city limits.

Taylor said the goal is to provide community members with something to look forward to for the Fourth of July. The show is set to take place at 10 p.m. in Fortuna.
