Database to Document Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons

KLAMATH, Ca. (KIEM) – The Yurok Tribal Court releases an early progress report on a three year project that is developing the first database in California to document missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, and two spirit people.

The project aims to establish a more effective system to investigate cases by introducing a formal protocol that involves tribal, county and federal law enforcement resources.

The Yurok Tribal Court will be supported in this effort by the Sovereign Bodies Institute- a native American-owned nonprofit research center.
