Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department receives upgrade

BLUE LAKE, Calif. (KIEM) – The Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department is receiving an upgrade in the form of a new building.

This is the first upgrade in a long time for the department. Storage will be the primary purpose of the new building as it will house engines and equipment that currently sit outside of the main station. The gear is constantly exposed to the elements. Chief David Vainuku said the indoor storage will prevent further deterioration.

Vainuku said he is excited about the new addition. The department hopes to move gear into the facility in the next few weeks. The new site is located on Fifth Avenue in Blue Lake.
