HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Crews assigned to the Red-Salmon Complex Fire continue to work tirelessly as the fire grows in the Trinity Alps wilderness of the Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, the blaze has already burned more than 12,000 acres.

The complex is 12,101 and remains 35% contained.

To be more specific, the Red Fire jumped to 11,294 acres and remains at 19% containment.

The Salmon Fire saw no change and remains at 807 acres with 79% containment, the strategy is for this fire and the red fire to burn together along the Northwest corner of the Salmon Fire.

Both fires are being managed for full suppression, utilizing minimum impact suppression techniques in the wilderness and working with resource advisors to protect cultural values.

The Spot Fire that broke out Friday near prospect peak on the Klamath National Forest — roughly a mile-and-half from the east flank of the Red Fire has grown to 143 acres.

All national forest system roads and trails are closed within the Red-Salmon complex area, as well as Big Rock River access.
