14 new Covid-19 cases reported since Friday, people in their 20’s see largest weekly increase

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Public Health Department confirms 14 new cases of Covid-19 since Friday. This brings the county’s total case count to 359 with health officials currently monitoring 61 active cases.

Since last week, 11 more cases have been reported in northern Humboldt and 28 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area. The number of cases in southern Humboldt remains unchanged. There have been 17 more recoveries reported bringing that number to 294.

As far as the age breakdown, people in their 20’s saw the largest weekly increase with 16 new cases in that group. The second largest weekly increase was among people in their 30’s with 10 new cases reported. Five more cases have been reported in people under the age of 20. Three more people in their 40’s, 2 more people in their 50’s, 2 more people in their 60’s, and 1 person in their 80’s have tested positive for the virus as well.

Of the total cases, 209 had contact to a known case, 79 were travel related, and 49 a result of community transmission. There are currently 8 cases under investigation.
