CDFW closes spit fishery at mouth of the Klamath River

KLAMATH, Calif. (KIEM) — The spit fishery at the mouth of the Klamath River will be closed to angling beginning Monday night. The closure goes into effect Monday at 11:59 pm.

According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, anglers will have met the spit area adult fall chinook quota of 15% of the total Klamath River Basin allotment by that time. Meeting the quote triggers the closure.

All recreational fishing at the mouth of the Klamath River will remain closed for the duration of the 2020 season. To track the quota status of open and closed sections of the Klamath and Trinity Rivers, you can call (800) 564-6479.
