USDA Forest Service implements fire restrictions, closures statewide

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — With most of California experiencing extreme heat and dangerous fire conditions, the USDA Forest Service announces temporary closures and fire restrictions in national forests across the state.

The closures do not impact any local forests, but there are some new restrictions in place for residents and visitors to keep in mind.

The use of any ignition source on all national forest system lands throughout the state is prohibited. This includes campfires and things like gas stoves. Also, all developed campgrounds and day-use sites on national forests in California will be closed.

The restrictions and closures go into effect Monday at 5 pm and will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change.
