FERNDALE, Calif (KIEM)- A local organization that has a goal to assist community members to provide, help, healing, and hope has been hard at work feeding and sheltering the local community.
Pay it Forward Humboldt is extending their services to fire evacuees at the Ferndale Fairgrounds. Through coordinating with the county, the organization was able to set up an evacuation site. For the past week, Pay it Forward Humboldt has received donations from community members and local restaurants to aid relief to fire victims.
With fires surrounding the outskirts of the county, many residents have made their way to the fairgrounds to seek shelter. Volunteers from the organization come every morning and stay throughout most of the day to help feed those who are staying at the fairgrounds.
