Humboldt State University opens residence halls for U.S. Forest Service firefighters

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) — Humboldt State University is teaming up with the U.S. Forest Service to house firefighters in residence halls this fire season.

Two buildings are set aside as quarantine housing for any fire crews that have someone on their teams that test positive for Covid-19. Each building can house 20 firefighters, but they won’t be able to use campus dining halls or share any spaces with students.

Back in 2015 the University hosted Cal Fire during the Mad River Complex Fires.
