Evacuation warnings for Southern Humboldt County have been lifted

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — All evacuation warnings for Southern Humboldt County have been lifted for the August Complex Fire West Zone. All road closures have been lifted as well, but officials urge residents to use caution when reentering the fire areas.

Cal Fire and U.S. Forest Service continue to battle the fire, which has grown to 93,000 acres with 20% containment. Roughly 2,200 personnel are on scene.

“Our crews are continuing to do mop-up operations. Things are going extremely well. We’re reinforcing our control lines, making sure everything is safe, and falling hazard trees,” Deputy Operations Chris Trindade says.

As of Monday, the county’s fire information line and virtual temporary evacuation point will be discontinued.
