Aerial patrols of the Slater and Devil Fires continue over the weekend

DEL NORTE AND SISKIYOU COUNTIES, Ca. (KIEM) – The Slater Fire is close to 157,000 acres with 80% containment.

Aerial patrols observed hot spots near Mount Hope in Oregon and in the north east corner by Sucker Creek and used helicopters to perform bucket drops in both locations.

Crews continue to remove hazardous trees along Happy Camp Highway.

So far, the estimated cost of the fire is more than $44 million dollars. Is more than 8,800 acres with 60% containment.

Drying of fuels continues with surface smoldering and creeping is likely to be seen.
