Drone flies into restricted airspace over the Red Salmon Complex Fire

KLAMATH, SIX RIVERS, AND SHASTA-TRINITY NATIONAL FORESTS, Ca. (KIEM)- Crews battling the Red Salmon Complex Fire were delayed over the weekend due to a drone flying into the restricted airspace.

Temporary flight restrictions are in place over the fire area to ensure the safety of aerial equipment. When other craft in the air. Firefighting crafts are required to stay grounded.

Today, crews work to repair containment lines and prevent erosion along the western flank of the fire.

Native American crews will work in the interior of the fire along the Devils Backbone to preserve culturally sensitive areas

The fire is now more than 143,000 acres with 65% containment.
