Arcata Fire replaces critical wild land fire safety equipment

MCKINLEYVILLE, Ca. (KIEM) – Important wildland fire safety equipment is replaced thanks to the Arcata Volunteer Firefighters Association.

THE A.V.F.A. received a $10,000 grant from the California Fire Foundation and purchased 27 new wild fire shelters.

The shelters are a crucial piece of P.P.E.  for all fire fighters who battle wild land fires in case they are trapped in the flames.

The shelters previously used by the Arcata Fire District were over 15 years old.
