CA Notify cell phone tracker for Covid-19

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – California Governor Gavin Newsom announces a state wide expansion of CA Notify; a smart phone tracking tool designed to slow the spread of Covid-19.

The tool will launch on December 10th and will allow apple and google smart phone users to receive Covid-19 notifications when users spend 15 minutes within 6 feet of someone who has tested positive.

The tool was tested at the University of California in San Diego and San Francisco, and uses blue tooth technology to exchange random codes between phones.
