DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office is collecting new bikes from community members, and the best part, they’re giving them away.

To enter, submit an original drawing, coloring or painting on a standard sheet of paper – no later than 5 p.m. on December 21.

All entries can either be mailed-in to 650 5th Street in Crescent City, or dropped off at their headquarters.

Make sure to include the name and age of the artist, along their gender, address and a phone number.

Staff will draw the winners from the entrants, and the bikes will be delivered just in time for Christmas.

“Like everyone else we are challenged with trying to figure out we could adapt to the impact of COVID -19,” said Sheriff Erik Apperson, “So, we chose this as our community outreach for the 2020 Holiday Season.

“Local residents have donated bikes and gave us the opportunity to decide how we would be distributed, we opted for art entries.”

The contest is only open to Del Norte County residents – Anyone who’d like to donate a new bicycle, can.

Brand new bikes can be dropped off at the Del Norte County’s Sheriff’s Office.
