First Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine administered in Humboldt County, broader distribution to start Wednesday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The first dose of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine has been administered in Humboldt County.

It happened this morning at Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata. Employee health coordinator and occupational health supervisor, Yolanda Stevens, received the very first shot from Tina Wood, the nurse manager of critical care services.

“I am very proud to get this vaccine today, to be a part of Humboldt County Mad River Hospital, one of the first ones to get this injection. I’ve been here for over 20 years and very, very proud to have this vaccine and be a part of this commitment,” Stevens says.

According to the Joint Information Center, broad distribution of the Pfizer vaccine to hospitals across the County will begin Wednesday, December 16th.
