Third medical center employee tests positive for covid-19 within a week

HOOPA VALLEY, Calif. (KIEM)-A third K’ima:w Medical Center staff member tests positive for covid-19 – exposure is believed to have happened off the premises.

According to a statement released Friday morning – the staff members who tested positive did not provide direct patient care.

Patients and employees who came within 6-feet, or more than

15-minutes, within a 24-hour period, has been notified – and will quarantine.

K’ima:w health officials announced their first employee to test positive a week ago today.

Those who with symptoms are encouraged to test as soon as possible at K’ima:w Medical Center by calling (530) 625-4261 ext. 0218.

The KMC Clinic is closed to in-person visits until further notice – however – providers will be available for telehealth services.

The pharmacy and other KMC departments are still open.

KMC asks, everyone who’ve been contacted is asked to participate in the process by answering all questions asked.

KMC says, they believe exposure was limited to only staff, but want to take the precautionary measures to help stop the spread.
