16th Covid-19 related death, 113 new cases reported since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The 16th Covid-19 related death has been confirmed by the Humboldt County Public Health Department. The person was in their 80’s and was a resident at Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

113 additional cases were also reported since Friday. The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Humboldt County is now 1,500. Health officials are monitoring 511 active cases.

In the last week, 44 new cases were reported in northern Humboldt, 156 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 5 more cases in southern Humboldt. The biggest weekly increase has again been among people in their 20’s with 57 new cases followed by people in their 30’s with 37 new cases. There are 7 people currently hospitalized with Covid-19 in the County. One of them is in the ICU.

On a more encouraging note, the Northern California region’s ICU capacity has increased to 28.7%. One more recovery was also reported Monday.
