1 Covid-19 death, 48 additional cases reported in Humboldt County since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Public Health Department confirms one Covid-19 related death since Friday. The person was in their 60’s and marks the 32nd death since the start of the pandemic. There have been 48 additional cases also reported since Friday. The total case count is 2,955 with health officials monitoring 276 active cases.

In the last week, 22 new cases were reported in northern Humboldt, 96 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 8 more cases in southern Humboldt. The greatest weekly increase was among 20 year olds with 23 new cases followed by 30 year olds with 22 new cases.

Two new hospitalizations were reported. There are 14 people currently in the hospital, and 3 are in the ICU. Northern California’s ICU capacity is 24.4%. The largest form of transmission remains contact to a known case followed by community transmission. There were 37 more recoveries also reported bringing that number to 2,647.
