Dog attacks woman causing serious injuries

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A 59 year old woman is recovering from serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog.

According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was walking by a home on the 3300 block of Little Fairfield Street on Friday evening. The dog and its owner were in the front yard.

The dog somehow managed to escape its harness and attacked the victim. By the time deputies arrived on the scene, the dog had been restrained. The victim was given emergency treatment and taken to the hospital. No word on her condition at this time.

The dog was taken to the Humboldt County Animal Shelter and the case is still under investigation.
