Parent-teacher conferences moved online to help ease stress for families and teachers

DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Officials in the Del Norte Unified School District have moved all spring parent-teacher conferences online to make it easier for families during the pandemic.

Teachers will be holding spring conference for their 10-to-15 most struggling students throughout the month of March and first week in April.  

Director of curriculum and instructions Leslee Machado says the district empathizes with parents, students and teachers.

“We knew that in the fall, that when we made those mini-days even more mini, we cut them in half,  we made it to only two-and-a-half hours, it caused a lot of hardship for our parents, and for teachers, they were complaining they didn’t have enough time in two-and-a-half hours, that’s the decision we made, knowing what the impact was,” she said.

Spring Conferences March 15-18, will be a “regular week.”

Teacher will hold, for their 10-15 most struggling students, during the following distance learning days, March 12; March 19; March 22 and April 2.
