Data entry error leads to incorrect age group information in Humboldt County’s Covid-19 dashboard

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — When the weekly Covid-19 numbers were released by the Humboldt County Public Health Department on Monday, a total of 52 cases from the 0 to 9 year old and 10 to 19 year old age groups appeared to have been reassigned.

We’re now learning that this is due to what seems to be a data entry error for March 8th. We brought this to the attention of the Joint Information Center and they acknowledged the error. In an email sent out local media Tuesday, they said the current information is correct.

A closer look shows the county dashboard still says there have been 356 cases reported in people 10 to 19 years old. That’s lower than the March 1st number of 381 cases in this group. To go even deeper in the numbers, on February 22nd the dashboard reported 362 cases for this group.
